Collagen Induction Therapy more commonly known as Micro Needling or Skin Needling is ever growing in popularity as an all round solution for your beauty regime.
It can be used to help alleviate acne scarring, scar relaxation, hyper-pigmentation, melasma, wrinkling and aging of the skin.
Micro-Needling stimulates the skin’s own natural recovery mechanism which in turn produces collagen and elastin, which repair the micro-wounds placed in the skin layers. If you have ever wanted to have facial rejuvenation in a completely NATURAL way then MicroNeedling is for you! The skin will gradually become firmer and have enhanced elasticity. Fine lines and wrinkles will become less evident, pores will look more refined, and greatly important the blood circulation is stimulated and the overall skin condition, health, and strength improved. Some client can see the difference after one treatment! The micro-perforation quickly goes through the basal cell layer of the skin, where new cells are created. There is no possibility of forming subcutaneous scar tissue. Micro-Needling is effective and safe and there are no short or long-term adverse effects with ongoing treatments.
An electrical medical device is used to create micro-channels in the skin which in turn cause a wound response. During the process, the growth factors facilitate cell growth and cell replication stimulating collagen (gives skin plump and thickness), elastin (gives skin it’s spring) and hyaluronic acid (gives skin that youthful glow). This can smooth skin, increase skin regeneration making the skin look healthier, more youthful and tighter.
The treatment will begin with a cleansing and sanitize of the skin before lidocaine is used for numbing for 15-20 mins which will make the treatment more comfortable.
After the skin is numbed, a series of passes will be performed with the electrical needling device ensuring that hundreds of micro-channels or micropuncture wounds are created in the skin thus creating an environment for cell replication and renewal. Very little downtime and discomfort with great benefits.
- Post treatment – use Hyaluronic Acid to soothe or Epidermal Growth Factors to speed up the recovery process.
- A series of at least 5 treatments is usually optimal and a rest period of 3 – 4 weeks between treatments.
- Depending on your skin, a pre- treatment of Micro-dermabrasion may be advantageous.

Micro needling is used to improve the following conditions:
- Acne scars
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- New and old scars
- Stretch marks
The micro needling pen can also be used to treat pore size, skin texture, and quality, as well as to break up old scar tissue and deliver medication deeper into the skin. It is not limited to a specific area and can be used all over the head, face, neck and body. Many individuals have enjoyed the benefits of micro needling around the eyes and mouth, two of our most popular treatment areas.
Microneedling can be performed on all skin types, including ethnic skin. Unlike laser skin resurfacing, there is not a risk of skin pigment changes, such as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH).
WHAT HAPPENS DURING TREATMENT?
During your skin needling treatment session, your skin is cleansed and numbing cream is applied for your comfort. Certain skin products may be applied during the treatment (hyaluronic acid or Stem cells). We then use the Micro-needling device to treat your skin with variable speed and adjustable needle depth.
It is normal for your skin to appear slightly red and inflamed for about 1-2 days after the procedure. Micro-needling is safe and effective. The risk of infection is very low and unlikely. After your treatment it is recommended to use sunscreen.
A minimum of 5 treatments with treatments spaced apart a minimum of 4-6 weeks is necessary to facilitate changes in the skin. After the first treatment, you will start to notice that your skin is appearing rejuvenated and smoother. Best results are seen 2-3 months after the treatment. Acne scar treatment can be difficult and requires at least 6+ treatments.
Adding PRP gives additional benefits.
Why Platelets Rejuvenate Skin
Platelets are the cells in the blood that help tissue to heal and grow new cells. The PRP, injected by means of micro-needling into the skin, act as a matrix that promotes your own collagen to grow, regenerates tissue, and thus acts as to naturally smooth and tighten the skin. In this way, PRP softens wrinkles, scars and creates smoother skin texture and tone.
The goal of PRP skin rejuvenation therapy is to improve skin tone and texture, tighten skin, soften lines and pores. Results begin to show 3-4 weeks after the treatment session and continue to improve with time. Three treatment sessions are generally recommended, spaced 1-2 months apart, to achieve the best outcome.
The Aging Face & PRP Facial Benefits
As we age, most women & men experience a loss of volume and skin integrity that results in common cosmetic complaints, which include the following:
- Crow’s feet
- Lip and frown lines
- Deep depressions around the nose and mouth
- Volume loss in the cheeks
- Sagging around the jaw line
- Dehydrated skin
- Overall loss of healthy, youthful skin texture and tone
Platelet Rich Plasma
Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is an extract of your own blood that contains 8 growth factors, and active proteins for tissue and injury healing. It has been used medically for years to accelerate wound healing; repair tendon, ligament and joint damage; heal diabetic ulcers; and help regrow muscle and bone. When PRP is placed back into the skin by injection or micro-needling, it initiates a localized stem cell response. Over the weeks and months following treatment, this stem cell response recruits collagen-producing cells called fibroblasts. The fibroblasts replace tissue that has been damaged or lost through the aging process with healthy skin that looks refreshed and rejuvenated.
